ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An East Albany homeowner didn't have to go far to find crime. He became a victim while standing at his own front door. Police were called to the 1522 Henri Avenue just after 8:30 PM Saturday.

That's where Jessie Butler told officers he was mugged after he tried to help who he thought was a woman in distress. Butler told officers that a black woman came to his door asking to use the telephone.

That's when she tried to force her way in and knocked Butler down. She grabbed his wallet and ran North toward Owens Avenue.

Police are investigating.
