The Lady Tornadoes were 22 points out of first place heading into the finals of the track events.
Monroe's day got off to a great start with the Lady Tornadoes winning the 400 meter relay.
LaKeisha Jackson won the 100 meter hurdles and was third in the 300 meter hurdles.
Kenza Bailey was fourth in the 200 meters and the Lady Tornadoes posted a fifth in the 1600 meter relay.
That is 35 points for the day and 51 for the meet and good enough to beat Towers by five points.
The state title comes one week after the Monroe boys made a final day to charge to win the AAA team title at Jefferson.

Kenza Bailey said. "We just knew we had to put forth a big effort to win. We always knew. We knew deep down in our soul we were born state champions."
Coach Octavia Jones said. "I really felt like that girls' time was going to come in the future. They told me a couple of days ago they were going to win and they proved me wrong."
Monroe girls last state title was in 2003.
In other action, Early County's Antiquinita Reed won the AA 400 meter dash and was third in the 200 meter dash.
Turner County's T'Keyah Chevers wins the Class A 100 meter dash.Feedback
