Walk-off homer sends Deerfield-Windsor into GISA AAA semifinals

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Deerifield-Windsor and Trinity Christian did not want to have to finish their GISA AAA second round playoff series on Monday.

After the Crusaders forced a third game with a 7-6 win in game two,  the teams sat through two weather delays.

They resumed in the sixth with a 1-1 score and Deerfield-Windsor's Matt Woodall led off the bottom of the seventh with the first homerun of his high school career.

Knights win 2-1 and will host Tattnall Square in the semifinals next week.

In AA, Tiftarea beat Flint River to advance to the semifinals.

Class A, Terrell Academy sweeps Kings Ridge with a 10-0 win in game two.

Eagles get region rival Fullington in the semifinals next week in Dawson.

Fullington won game three at David Emanuel 7-2.

Randolph-Southern dropped game two 5-2 to Monroe.

Patriots win game three 10-7 to also advance to the Class A semifinals.

In college baseball, Valdosta State beats Tampa 10-5 in the NCAA DII South Regionals.

Blazers get #1 seed Southern Arkansas in an elimination game Sunday afternoon.

Softball, Valdosta State season ends with a 3-0 loss to Alabama-Huntsville.

Lady Chargers win the DII Super Regional 2-0.

High school soccer, Augusta Prep beats Deerfield-Windsor 4-2 and LaGrange knocks off Terrell Academy 4-1 in second round playoff action.
