ALBANY, GA (WALB) - It's been a difficult couple of weeks for an Albany family.

15-people were in a home that caught fire in the middle of the night on April 28th.

Everyone made it out safely and they lost most everything, but the community is pitching in to help.

"We were asleep and my son woke us up and told us it was a fire," said Carleata Jones, Fire Victim.

Eleven children and four adults were asleep in the house; Carleata Jones and her sister were two of those adults.

"Soon as he came and told me that I started screaming and telling everyone to get out of the house," said Carleata.

"I was the last one out of the house; everyone was across the street we counted everyone to make sure everyone were there," said Erica Jones, Fire Victim.

With the loss of all their possessions, they're doing what the can to get by. The community is helping.

"It was really amazing because you never thought people would come to help so fast," said Carleata.

This weekend Faith by Grace, a Christian singing group will put on a benefit concert to help raise money for them.

"We want to thank everyone, because we never knew there were such nice people that would help you in a time like this," said Carleata.

Carleata and her six children, and Erica and her four are staying with family.

"We have a great family," said Erica.

The benefit concert is free at seven tomorrow at Metropolitan Baptist Church on Gordon Avenue, but a love offering will be taken up for the family.
