VSU plans for new parking facility

December 4, 2002

Valdosta - A South Georgia University may be getting a new, multi-million dollar parking facility.

Students at Valdosta State University rate parking as the college's biggest problem. But Tuesday night, President Ronald Zaccari presented the Valdosta city council with a new, 3-level parking deck design that will house up to 1,000 cars. The facility would be located across from the new stadium, and cost about 7 and a half million dollars.

Students say the extra space would be a big relief. "They give out $300,000 worth of parking tickets each year here, so that proves there is a big problem," said Shamonta Dean, VSU Student.

If plans for the new deck are approved, it should be finished in 2004, shortly after the new stadium is completed.
