ADEL, GA (WALB) - A Cook County husband and wife were charged Wednesday afternoon in connection with the brutal murder of a local nightclub owner.

28-year old Jason Treadway is charged with murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and burglary.

27-year old Billie Joe Treadway is charged with aggravated assault and tampering with evidence.

Authorities arrested the Treadways at a motel in Tifton just hours after the Mega Mart convenience store was robbed in Adel late Friday night.

That same night, police were called out to Buster's Game Room in Sparks where 72-year old James "Buster" Statum was discovered stabbed to death inside his nightclub.

The Treadways were being held in the Cook County Jail on armed robbery charges when the additional charges were filed.
