Albany -- If you've ever wanted to fire up a welding torch., Albany was the place to be Tuesday.

Hundreds of South Georgians who work in welding or cutting operations were here checking out the latest in technology. Airgas hosted the Lincoln Electric team torch welding trailer. The latest welding and cutting tools were demonstrated.

Construction, maintenance, and fabrication workers from across Southwest Georgia came out to see the state of the art tools.

Airgas Manager Kelly Glenn said "Differences in technology that are currently available, that make welding processes more efficient. Make it easier for the average person to be trained to properly use the processes."

Welding was once only done by longtime tradesmen. New technology is making it more efficient to train workers to do the same jobs.
