Albany-- Postal workers are starting to get their holiday rush of letters and packages. Post office workers urge you to send priority mail to get presents under the tree by Christmas day.
The main Post Office in Albany on Slappey Boulevard saw a significant increase in business Monday. They get mail from about one hundred different post offices everyday.
Workers are happy to see more customers during this holiday season. “This is just the tip of the iceberg for the next three months going into Christmas,” said Albany Postmaster Ron Bradley.
“We were concerned middle of year because we did have a dip nationwide,” Bradley said. “It has turned and picked back up. We are expecting a real good Christmas, put in extra tractor trailers to Atlanta, extra Christmas help, expecting a real good Christmas.”
Workers expect December 16th to be the peak day of deliveries. The Lafayette Plaza Post Office on Meredyth Drive has added more days and hours of operation.
It will be open for the next three Saturdays and add an extra hour on weekdays.
