Albany-- Volunteers in their Golden Years are serving Southwest Georgia.

Today, more than 350 of them were honored for their hard work in 2002 at the R.S.V.P. annual luncheon. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program boasts 500 members--serving in soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and where ever they are needed.

Congressman Sanford Bishop says, "I'm reminded of my days as a Boy Scout--the slogan is do a good turn daily. We have people who live that and have made lives of many decades rendering services."

People who volunteered more than 1,500 hours this year alone where given a special Christmas candle as a thank you. One of the recipients is former Dougherty County School Board Member Christine Blaylock, who died in June.
