Valdosta - A Valdosta State University football player, who was let out of jail to play in a playoff game, has been released from jail.

A state court judge authorized 22-year-old Reggie Rhodes' release Monday afternoon, pending a court hearing.

Rhodes was arrested for a probation violation Saturday before VSU's Division II playoff game against Carson Newman. The college's public safety officials and Lowndes County Sheriff's Department arranged for Rhodes to be let out of jail to play for the Blazers, and he returned to jail immediately after the game.

Rhodes' court hearing will be later this month. VSU athletic officials say he should be able to play in this weekend's semifinal game.
