Turner County's Holland takes Tift County job

ASHBURN, GA (WALB) - The basketball rivalry between Tift County and Turner County is very intense.

The intensity may be increased next season.

That is because Turner County head coach Eric Holland is now the head coach at Tift County.

The Tift County board of education approving Holland's hiring at their meeting tonight in Tifton.

In five years, Eric Holland made Turner County one of the top teams in Class A.

This year Turner County was 30-2 and lost to Whitefield Academy in the state championship game.

He won 125 games and took the Rebels to three straight final four appearances and two consecutive state runner-up finishes.

Eric Holland takes over for Johnny Spurlin who stepped down at the end of the season.
