ALBANY, GA (WALB) -The father of a murdered Lee County teen was the first to testify in the trial of his son's accused killer Tuesday.

20 year old Kasaem Toomer is on trial for the beating death of 19 year old Justin Cox.

Cox' body was found in the Flint River near Turner Job Corps in October 2007.

Charles Cox testified that his son was scared of the water, and never went close to it.

Toomer admits he hit Cox in the head, but didn't mean to kill him.

Next week, Robert Lee Williams, the man who police say helped throw Cox' body into the river will stand trial.
