ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Cities across the country are celebrating tourism.  They're holding travel rallies like the one that took place at the Albany Convention and Tourism Bureau in the Bridgehouse downtown.

Different Hotels and attractions were on display for tourists and for folks who live in Albany.

"We're just trying to get the word out that you can travel, you can be a tourist in your own home town," said Lisa Riddle, Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau. "You don't have to go away to travel, you can stay here and take part in all of our great activities, attractions."

The Mayor even proclaimed this week as Tourism Week in Albany, emphasizing the importance of tourism on the local economy.
