ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A load of Federal Express packages were damaged or destroyed when a delivery truck overheated and caught fire on Cason Street in east Albany.

Firefighters doused the cab and the trailer of the Fed Ex Ground truck.

The driver told firefighters there was something wrong with the truck and he was trying to make it back to his headquarters when the truck caught fire. Packages in the trailer were drenched and scorched.

"It only had 30 packages in the truck and all of those belonged to MCLB," said BN Chief Matthew Jefferson of the Albany Fire Department

A sand truck was brought in to contain the oil the truck lost. The driver was not hurt. Damage to the truck was estimated at $55,000.
