Lowndes baseball ready for second round

After missing out on the postseason last year the Lowndes Baseball team is hoping to make the most of their return to the playoffs this year.

The Vikings cruised past Newton in the first round and will host Chapel Hill in the second round beginning Wednesday. Head Coach Danny Redshaw says his team is capable of making a deep run and that motivation will not be an issue.

"There's no doubt that these guys want to play as long as they can. I don't think I've ever questioned that with this bunch. We've got good solid pitching. Don't have a lot of depth on the mound. But I think we're good enough on the mound if we play good defense and swing the bats like were capable of" said Redshaw.

Lowndes and Chapel Hill play a double header tomorrow beginning at 5:00 at Noel George Field in Valdosta. Game 3 will be Thursday at 2:00 if necessary.
