ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A 20-year old Albany man goes on trial Monday on charges he killed a Lee County teenager.

Kasaem Toomer will stand trial for the murder of 19 year old Justin Cox.

Cox' body was found in the Flint River water near the Turner Boat Landing in October 2007.

Police say Toomer admitted hitting Cox during a fight, but says he didn't mean to kill him. Police say Toomer told them that he and 29 year old Robert Lee Williams put Cox in the River, and then drove his Cadillac to the Albany Civic Center and abandoned it.

Prosecutors said one part of the trial will be the exact cause of death, and whether Cox was dead before he was put in the water.

Prosecutors say Williams will also be tried for murder at a later date.
