ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Phoebe Putney Hospital physician is among the top two south Asian doctors in the world.
Dr. Chirag Jani was nominated for the honor by his colleagues and will fly to New York this weekend to find out if he's tops in his field. Dr. Jani is an experienced clinician and researcher in hematology and oncology. He's worked in Albany for the last six years and earned multiple clinical fellowships. He told us he's honored just to be considered for the excellence award.
"There's a lot of excellence all across Asia and with the globalization and the advance in technology and science I think anybody who just gets nominated themselves is a winner," said Dr. Chirag Jani, Hematologist/Oncologist.
Dr. Jani is one of the few physicians in the country to be board certified in four sub-specialties. The South Asian Excellence Awards will be televised internationally Saturday night.
