Albany hotel business is picking up

By Karen Cohilas - bio | email

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - There's been an upturn in traffic lately, with sporting, and religious events, and even a federal employee convention that's going on right now.

Jaye Lomax at Sleep Inn says it doesn't just help the hotels bottom line, it benefits the entire community.

"People keep coming back and that's what we want, the smaller conventions, the sports conventions of course, the religious conventions. Those things really help tremendously, not only to hotel business, but they go shop, they go out and eat and gas and all amounts of stuff. It's money coming in town for all of us."

As we told you last week, a Jehovah's Witness convention will be held in Albany in October and they've requested between 300 and 350 rooms for two nights at the Sleep Inn alone.
