Westfield's one point win over Deerfield-Windsor in October gave the Hornets the region championship over the Knights.
Deerfield-Windsor though got the bigger prize by beating Westfield 24-7 to win the G.I.S.A.'s AAA state football championship.
The title game started much like the regular season meeting with a Deerfield-Windsor fumble leading to the first touchdown of the game for the Hornets.
The Knights quickly tied the score with sophomore Jonathan Siskey's 28-yard run setting up a two yard touchdown pass to Lance Walker.
A Kyle Belcher field goal gave Deerfield-Windsor a three point lead going into halftime.
Lance Walker was part of two plays that turned the tide in Deerfield-Windsor's favor in the third quarter.
Walker intercepted a Bubba Blaylock pass to stop Westfield's opening drive of the second half.
Later in the third quarter, Jake Reese hit Lance Walker with a short pass over the middle and Walker turned it into an 84 yard touchdown to give the Knights a
17-7 lead.
Chris Harris finished the scoring with a one-yard touchdown dive.
Deerfield-Windsor finished their state championship season with a 13-2 record.
The news was not so good in the AA title game where Brentwood scored a touchdown in the final minutes to beat Tiftarear 14-9.
