ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Valdosta State catcher Chase Blackwood saved the Blazers from a potentially embarrassing season ending loss.

Blackwood hit a solo homerun in the top of the tenth to give the Blazers a 9-8 win over Harding in an elimination game at the Gulf South Conference tournament.

It was Blackwood's fourth homerun in the past two days.

He hit two in Tuesday's win over Ouachita Baptist and hit a two-run blast earlier against the Bison when VSU built was looked like was an insurmountable 8-1 lead.

Harding though scored four runs in the eighth and three in the ninth to force extra innings.

Valdosta State will play either West Florida or Southern Arkansas on Thursday.

The Blazers will play West Florida if Delta State beats West Alabama.

If the Lions win, then VSU gets a rematch with Southern Arkansas.
