ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More than a hundred current and retired federal employees are in Albany this week working to protect their benefits.

Albany is hosting the 53rd annual convention of National Active and Retired Federal Employees. The 150 attendees heard from Kenneth Cutts, district director for Congressman Sanford Bishop.

One of the main issues they'll discuss is holding on to the benefits they have in a tough economy.

"We're looking at the issues that are of interest to federal employees," said Donna Dowling. "Particularly in these times when the economy is not really good and we want to get more benefits for federal employees, but we're looking to really protect our benefits and not lose what we've already got."

 The convention continues Thursday.
