CRISP COUNTY, GA (WALB) - South Georgia investigators uncovered a ring of people trying to get official identification for illegal immigrants. Nine people are now charged with identity theft and forgery in Crisp and Tift Counties.

Investigators from the Georgia Department of Driver Services,  the GBI, and the Crisp County Sheriff's Office made the arrests when the suspects tried to get state identification cards for undocumented aliens.

A tip led investigators to the ring after stolen ID's and false documents were presented at the D.D.S. in Cordele.

Six of the people arrested are now in the Crisp County Jail. The other three are in the Tift County jail.
