Albany-- With the biggest shopping day of the year comes some really big deals. Stores were buzzing with buyers two days early, trying to beat Friday's crowds. And, retailers hope today's hustle and bustle is just a taste of what's to come this holiday season.

Tis the season--to shop!

"Who are you shopping for?" Shopper Jamie Corbitt says, "The children. I'm letting them pick out the clothes they like."

And, people are getting in the spirit early. Shopper Erin Faulk says, "Pretty good, there are pretty good sales at Dillards."

There are good sales everywhere you turn: 50% off here, pre-holiday sale there. Every store competing for your dollar. Reed's Jewelers associate David Chancey says, "Definitely big retail day not just for jewelry but everyone is expecting a big turnout."

And, people are already turning out for the early bird sales. Waldenbooks associate Joyce Luke says, "This has been the hot seller, parents coming in looking for the journal, we know what they are talking about, they are being sent by their children." Teens want rock musician Kurt Cobain's personal journal on sale today for 15% off. But we've got a secret for smart shoppers--it's 30% off Friday.

While there are many bargains today, Friday is still the best day to find that rock bottom price.

Some stores are opening as early as 6:00 a.m. Friday.
