ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The Albany State baseball team had a SIAC championship in the palm of its hand before giving up 7 runs in the 8th inning Saturday and falling to Stillman 12-10. Sunday the Rams had one more chance to take down their rival and capture the teams first conference title since 2006.

Albany State fell behind 14-3 before outscoring Stillman 9-1 in the final three innings. The rally would be too little to late as Albany State lost 15-12.

ASU Head Coach Edward Taylor says he was very impressed with the way his team fought back.

"They fought their hearts out, even when we were down you know 10 runs, 11 runs, we fought our way back. I can't say enough about those guys I love them to death and I'd do anything in the world for them" said Taylor.

Albany State has finished runner up to Stillman 2 out of the last three seasons.

"It's just disapointing man I mean we came so close yesterday and today we just didn't bring energy like we did yesterday but good job this year. Give it up to Stillman, they hit the ball" said second baseman Dax Spriggs.

ASU's Roger Jones Brandon Marcus, and Corey Reeves were named to the all tournament team. Albany State will close out the 2009 season on the road Friday when it visits Savannah State.
