DOERUN, GA (WALB) - It was a festive weekend for some south georgians celebrating May Day.

The City of Doerun celebrated as they have been doing for the past a quarter century.

Hundreds descended on the cities downtown in the shadows of the water tower, To buy arts and crafts and have some fun.

Organizers say this year they had a lot more activities.

"We had a little bit of everything plenty of street vendors, all kinds of entertainment a lot of singing going on and a street dance tonight," said Dwayne Turpin, BBQ Organizer.

They say despite tighter pockets even more people turned out for the festivities this year.
