ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Almost two-million dollars in federal funds have already been approved to help individuals and businesses in South Georgia affected by severe weather. And this is only a week after the federal declaration due to storm flooding was announced.

So far a little more than $1.9  million have been distributed to 636 households and businesses who have registered with FEMA. The U.S. Small Business Administration has issued 367 applications for disaster loans.

290 people have met with recovery specialists in seven temporary Disaster Recovery Centers set up by GEMA and FEMA. Housing inspectors have completed 73-percent of their inspections of disaster-damaged properties.
