THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Senior citizens in Thomasville enjoyed a day devoted completely to them. Friday was the 8th annual "Senior Day in the Park" at Cherokee Lake.

More than 200 people were there, including Mayor David Lewis.

Four assisted living facilities and three Thomas county nursing homes brought out their residents. They say events like this give senior citizens something to look forward to.

"This is wonderful for them to get out and get some fresh air, meet people they may not have known, or it might be friends that they've had out in the community that they can once meet again," said Jenny Blanton, Golden Living Center Activity Director.

Music, games, food, and prizes were all a part of the day in the park.

The Golden Living Center puts on the event every year. They say this is the biggest turnout they've had so far.
