Dougherty flood victims have place to file for assistance

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Flood victims in Dougherty County now have a place where they can file for assistance. The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center opened at Thornton Gym in Albany at noon Friday.

Only a handful of people were there as the center opened, but more are expected. It's open 8 AM to 7 PM every day other than Sunday until further notice.

Jody Correro with FEMA said, "We help them rebuild to the point they were prior too the damage, we're here to support that effort as strongly as we can in partnership with the state of Georgia."

You don't have to visit the center to apply for state and federal assistance.

 

      • DRC offices are Open from 8AM - 7PM Monday thru Saturday.

Applicants in all area may apply on line at www.disasterassistance.gov or by phone at 1-800-621-3362. You can call 8AM to 6PM seven days a week. Multi language service available.  TTY: 1-800-462-7585.
