ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Celebration was had to promote awareness of the 2010 census.
Census workers say it's important to get an accurate count because it can help determine how much money is available for our area and even the location of schools, highways, and hospitals.
Questionnaires will be mailed out next February and March.
The local count committee in working hard to get a more than 70 percent response in Albany.
"Today we're trying to get information out to the citizens because each and everyone of them has a role to play in ensuring that we get all of the resources that we deserve and need in our community," Michael McCoy, Complete Count Committee Chair.
The Census Bureau will not share your information with anyone.
A number of vendors and the wildcats marching band entertained people at the kickoff.
