Cairo - Senator Harold Ragan makes a major announcement today. He's dropping his election lawsuit and calling it quits.
Last week, Senator Ragan filed a lawsuit in three split District 11 counties, Thomas, Mitchell and Colquitt. Tuesday, he decided not to challenge the November 5th general election, because he doesn't want put his family through a negative campaign during the holidays.
Senator Ragan lost by 72 votes to Republican John Bulloch after a recount on Thursday. His lawsuit claimed more than 500 voters in split counties received the wrong district ballots.
Senator Ragan is a 16-year veteran of the state senate.
