Dawson, GA (WALB) - It has been nearly a year and a half since a well known Dawson man, Lucious Buchanan, was murdered in his home.   The case remains unsolved, and his relatives say they still live in fear.

They think the killer is still living in Terrell County, and they're offering a five thousand dollar reward to help bringing that murderer to justice.

Lucious Buchanan's daughter and sister say they are sure their father's killer is still walking the streets in Dawson.

"It's been 16 months we have had to walk around basically in fear. Not knowing who, what why? It's just horrible," his daughter, Cynthia Oxford said.

January 5, 2008 68-year-old Lucious Buchanan was shot to death in his Dawson home on First Avenue. A well known local landlord and church leader, it was not clear if robbery was the motive. Investigators still have few clues, and no suspects.

The victim's sister Helen Vanover said, "I have been 16 months in fear. Because I don't know what to look for. I don't know who to look for. We're not hearing any answers."

Buchanan's family say they believe someone knows what happened. "It hurts not knowing anything. It's our family now. Tomorrow it may be somebody else's family, because whoever did this is still out there," Oxford said.

Buchanan's family has grown closer together in this tragedy, but say they will never find closure or peace until his murder is solved.   "Now nothing is going to help the pain we go through. But the fear, it will help the fear a whole lot if somebody will just come forward," Vanover said.

If you have information that might help investigators, call the GBI at 229-777-2080, or the Terrell County Sheriff's Office at 229-995-4488.
