ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Members of a Dougherty County church sent up prayers Wednesday night for a little boy battling painful cancer.

There weren't many dry eyes at Gillionville Baptist as people prayed for 3-year-old Ward Wright and his family. They're at Egleston Hospital in Atlanta as he undergoes treatment for a large mass in his stomach.

Vigil organizers hope prayer brings the family peace and a miracle.

"I absolutely believe that God answers prayer. And when God's people pray, He answers their prayers. Prayer is very powerful and we believe that God is going to do wonderful work in Ward's life," said GBC Children's Pastor Rodney Rector.

Ward was diagnosed with cancer about a week ago. You can give the family words of encouragement on their guestbook. Visit www.caringbridge.org/visit/wardwright.
