Albany-- Fifty-three-year-old Bill Scheer was arrested Monday night at his home on Pheasant Drive, and is charged with killing his elderly father, 12 years ago.
Scheer, a math teacher at Monroe High School,went before a judge Tuesday morning to hear the charges against him.
Prosecutors say on the morning of September 13, 1990, Scheer left the campus, returned to his home, and hit his elderly father, William Henry Scheer in the head with a golf club.
They say he killed his father to get his money.
Right now, Scheer is being held without bond.
Scheer's wife, Debra, is an assistant principal at Martin Luther King Elementary School, not Lamar Reese Elementary, as reported on Monday.
