ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards let the county's crime victims know they haven't been forgotten.

Law enforcement from the Dougherty County Police to the probation office Tuesday morning pinned ribbons to the National Crime Victim's Wreath in honor of the victims they've served and the officers who have fallen victim to crime.

Words of encouragement were offered to the victims along with the promise that justice would be sought on their behalf.

"Crime doesn't ever really stop and they just need to know that we know that they're here. We want to be there for them and offer them what they need," said Tonya Abner of Victim-Witness Assistance.

Ornaments were also placed on the Tree of Justice behind the courthouse.

District Attorney Greg Edwards told victims there's three things they should know, that the community believes in them, that they will work to make them whole again and that the District Attorney's office will seek justice for them.
