Deputy recovers from hit and run

November 25, 2002

Albany - A Dougherty County sheriff's deputy hit by a teenage driver is now out of the hospital, but the boy remains in custody. Investigator Steve Enfinger was working security at Wynnsong movie theater when the 16 year-old hit him with his car, knocking Enfinger to ground.

Authorities say the teen then backed up and struck the officer again, before driving off. Albany police caught the driver, but cannot release his name because of the boy's age. The teen remains in the Youth Detention Center, charged with several traffic offenses including driving under the influence.
