ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Lee County bus driver and two school employees were disciplined after a special needs student was left on the bus after a field trip.

School policy requires a driver to check the bus after students are dropped off. School officials say because two adults were on the bus, the driver assumed they checked and counted the students after they returned to the high school from a field trip.

The special needs high school student was slumped down in the seat asleep. When teachers realized the student was missing they called the bus garage and the student was located and returned to the school. Letters of reprimand have been paced in each employee's file, though school leaders would not give us their names.
