ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany State University has earned the highest audit rating in the school's history.
The board of regents internal audit office annually rates the financial practices of its colleges and universities on a five-point scale, one is the top score.
ASU received a two, up from a four in its last audit.
The higher rating means the school could receive more money from donors and the state.
"We may get more donations through the foundation because they know we're good stewards of the money," said Larry Wakefield CPA, Office of Fiscal Affairs VP.
Wakefield said the university made a concerted effort to assess risk, improve internal controls and document financial procedures.
