PUTNEY, GA (WALB) - A South Georgia organization is helping rebuild homes and lives of elderly and disabled homeowners in Dougherty and Lee Counties.

On Thursday Rebuilding Together held a banquet for 13 homeowners and volunteers, the homeowners will get help with everything from painting to roof repairs.

Contributors and volunteers make the repairs possible for those who can't do it themselves.

"Especially with the economy the way it is today they cannot afford those repairs, so Rebuilding Together is a group of volunteers, we meet all year long and accept applications all year long to help them, Rebuilding Together Project Manager.

Some of the work has already been done.

On Saturday 10 volunteer groups will work to complete other repairs and modifications.

People 62 or older can apply for help through the SOWEGA Council on Aging.
