Attapulgus, GA (WALB) - A family of six got out just before fire took over their home Wednesday morning.
There is very little left of the home on Simmons-McIntyre Road in Attapulgus.
Decatur County firefighters responded to the call around 7:00AM, and it took them almost four hours to put it out.
Ronnie Harrison, his mom, niece, and her three small children were all asleep inside, but they all made it out unharmed.
"Right now I'm feeling blessed to be alive," said Ronnie Harrison, Sr. "I thank God for letting things be the way they are. We're all living. That's material things, life is the one thing you can't replace."
Fire officials still don't know how the fire began. The family has lived in the home since the 1970's. For now they're staying with family nearby.
