A former mayor and community leader in Dawson has died.
Jimmy Raines served as Dawson's mayor for more than 25 years.
He also helped establish Terrell Academy and The Church of the Holy Spirit and was President of the Bank of Dawson.
Raines graduated from the University of Georgia and Harvard Law School and served as a naval officer in World War Two and the Korean War.
He died Tuesday at his home at age 87. His funeral will be Thursday at 11 am at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
