ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Dougherty County Police officer and another man were injured during an afternoon wreck in Albany.

It happened just before 1 Saturday at the intersection of Westover and Oakridge.

Troopers say 94-year-old John Henry Reese was headed south on Westover when he turned in front of Dougherty County Police officer Samuel Edwards Jr.

Edwards hit Reese's Mercury Marquis on the passenger side.

The Marquis vaulted into the air before landing upside down on another vehicle.

"The driver of Mercury Grand Marquis we do believe he's got serious injuries the Dougherty County officers I do know the extent of his injuries the driver of the witness vehicle did walk away," said Cpl. Scott McClure, Georgia State Patrol.

Officer Edwards was headed to a call in emergency mode when that accident happened.

He was treated and released from Phoebe Memorial Hospital.
