Albany's nut catches the spirit of Christmas

November 20, 2002

Albany - South Georgia pecan trees inspired this year's official Albany city Christmas ornament. The 11th annual ornament is 24-carat gold plated and depicts Albany's heritage as the Pecan Capital of the World.

"The pecan is a major agri-business for our area," said Sean Davis with Easter Seals. "This ornament captures the beauty of this Georgia nut."

The ornaments cost $14. All proceeds go to Easter Seals, to help disabled South Georgians get the therapy they need. You can buy the ornaments at The Carriage House, T. Skalla's, Bennett's Homplace, the Easter Seals office, and the Royal Collection.
