ALBANY, GA (WALB) - It's not just trash that's junking up the city. Junk cars also create problems. But here's some good news.
Anyone who has a junk car they need to get rid of can have it hauled away free. At least seven businesses in Albany will pick come to your home or business and pick up abandoned or junk cars without charge.
"When you look at junk cars, it not only presents a safety issue," said City Commissioner Jon Howard. "It's an eyesore in the community and what I'm concerned about is that the number of junk cars you have in residential areas and commercial areas, it doesn't look good as a city as a whole."
If you keep a junk car on your property, you could be cited and eventually fined by code enforcement.
