    Work is now underway to widen about two, and half miles of Carpenter Road in Tifton.When construction is complete, there will be two lanes of traffic in each direction, plus a center turn lane with curbs and gutters on both sides of the road.Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route.The work is expected to be complete in October.Copyright 2014 WALB. ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Magistrate Judge rules Coroner Emma Quimbley did nothing wrong in handling the personal effects of a deceased Albany woman.  

The woman's sister, Martha Baker, accused Quimbley of stealing jewelry from her mother's body, after Betty English was found dead in her Ownes Avenue home May 30th, 2007.

Quimbley says the jewelry was handed over to other family members.

The situation prompted the coroner to change the way they handle personal effects. Quimbley says the Albany Police Department will now catalogue all personal items so allegations can be avoided in the future.
