Lowndes County deputies and narcotics agents recently made a rash of drug and alcohol arrests.

Twelve people were arrested in the area near Bemiss Road and North Oak Street Extension over the weekend. Charges range from possession of marijuana and cocaine to open container and driving under the influence.

"When we get a large number of complaints in htere we feel there's some merit to it, so we're going to go out and see what we can do to fix the problem," said Captain J.D. Yeager, Lowndes Sheriff's Department.

Deputies also issued 22 traffic tickets during the concentrated patrol.
