Valdosta - People in Lowndes County are gearing up for this summer's Jimmy Carter Work Project.

County commissioners recently announced they'll join eleven other organizations and donate $40,000 for house sponsorship during the blitz build.

"We think this is really going to put Lowndes County on the map and wanted to be part of such an eventful occasion," said Paige Dukes, Lowndes County Public Information Officer.

The Jimmy Carter work project is scheduled for June 8 through 13. Habitat for Humanity hopes to build 30 homes during that week.
