ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Food Bank of Southwest Georgia's mobile pantry made a stop in Lee County today with more than 12,000 pounds of food.

The stop is just one of several over the past month that provide staples like vegetables, grits, and chicken to families in need. The boxes are made possible with funding through the Farm Bill. It's a need that grows with every stop.

"We're finding that the need is great everywhere we go because of the economic conditions that we've all been faced with and the job losses and the plant closing, so we're just seeing a great number of people who are hurting," said Brett Kirkland, Food bank of Southwest Georgia.

In two weeks the mobile pantry will make stops in Tift County and two weeks later in Moultrie and then Douglas.
