ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany minister pleads not guilty as he's arraigned on charges of stealing tens of thousands of dollars meant to help Alzheimer's patients.

Forty-four-year-old Johann Vandermerwe is charged with 31 counts of theft by conversion and three counts of theft by taking.

Vandermerwe was the director of the Albany Outreach Center that provides daycare services and home respite care to Alzheimer's patients for the SOWEGA Council on Aging.

Investigators recovered about $20,000 of the more than $77,000 he's accused of stealing.
