ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Humane Society is trying to get the attention of the White House. The First family said they were considering getting a Labradoodle... specifically rescuing one from a shelter.
There are actually two at the Albany Humane Society. They are sisters. Director Donna Strickland is holding the dogs just for the Obamas, but she hasn't heard back, yet.
She said, "We've sent word to the White House, to Oprah, to the big networks in Washington, just trying to get somebody to get their foot in the door and I actually did talk to someone at the White House and she relayed the message to President Obamas' secretary, so hopefully we'll hear back from somebody pretty soon."
Even if the Obamas' go with some other Labradoodle, these dogs should get a nice home. There's a waiting list of people who want to adopt them, just in case.
