Treasure hunting in Southwest Georgia

November 13, 2002

Albany - Some retirees spend their days playing golf, but a group of South Georgia men are busy searching for hidden treasures. You can often find Charles Davis, Leon Perrett, and Kenneth Adams combing parks and fields with metal detectors.

On sunny days, these friends use their metal detectors to find coins, jewelry, and sometimes just junk. But they say every time the metal detectors beep, they're excited about the possibility of finding something great.

"I love finding old coins. One time I found an 1812 coin here in Albany, what a great discovery," Kenneth Adams of Sylvester.

Their discoveries may not always be exotic, but these friends say the value is in the time they spend together.
